Man dies following scooter and car crash in Sydney's inner west

A man who was riding his scooter has died after crashing into a car in Sydney's inner west.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Spencer Street and William Street in Five Dock at 8.45pm.

The scooter rider, who is in his 30s, was treated by paramedics but later died.

Police described the vehicle as a "motorised" scooter and would not provide further details.

The driver of a a Toyota Hilux Utility was arrested and was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

He is helping police with their inquiries.

Officers attached to Burwood Police Area Command have established a crime scene that will be examined by the Metro Crash Investigation Unit.

Investigations continue.
