The Medical Education Trust (MET) of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) which runs the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Institute of Medical Science and Research has issued two notices to Apollo Pharmacy over complaints received against the latter.
Notably, patients and their relatives have complained to the authority over the long queues in which they have to wait to get the medicines. This apart, complaints have been also received against mismatch in the pricing of medicines. AMC's deputy municipal commissioner Kuldeep Arya confirmed the development.
"Apollo Pharmacy is operating the pharmacies in the hospital and we had received some complaints against them. We have issued two notices to them—one is for delay in disbursement of medicines and the second is over mismatch in pricing of medicines," he said. The deputy municipal commissioner also said feedback of patients and their relatives is being given prime importance to improve the services being rendered by the hospital. He said feedback has been collected from 17,908 patients, both indoor and outdoor, between June and August. The officer revealed that 87 per cent out-patients have given 'excellent' for their overall experience in the hospital, which is 91 per cent in case of in-patients.
It was also revealed that the footfall of patients since the hospital's inauguration has increased rapidly. It registered around 13,543 out-patients in August, whereas 1,767 in-patient admissions were reported in the month. Similarly, around 500 patients are availing MRI facilities, whereas around 600 patients are availing CT scan facilities.
