Owls perched
Sheffield Wednesday’s Barry Bannan is looking forward to facing Everton in the Carabao Cup third round tonight.
Speaking to The Star, ahead of the Owls clash with the Blues, the 29-year-old said: “Everton have got a lot of world-class players and we’ll respect them, but everybody wants to play the best in the country.
“Everton are a Premier League team everyone will want to play and show we can compete against teams like that.
“For the young players who will be given a chance it’s good for them and their careers.
“It’s good for them to see how they progress or how far they’re off it.
“It’s always good to beat a Premier League side and get a scalp under your belt.”

Time to put this right
Free hit says Monk
Sheffield Wednesday boss Garry Monk thinks tonight’s game against Everton is a ‘free hit’.
The Blues will travel to Yorkshire to take on the Owls in the League Cup third round this evening.
Monk admitted: “It is a Premier League team and a free hit for us.
“They are expected to come here and win as a Premier League team. But we have had two games now under myself and gained points from them and showed good character and qualities.
“There are things we need to get better at. But it is a free hit in that sense and we want to win, simple as that.
“If we can show what we did in that second half (on Saturday) against Everton, we fancy ourselves of having a good chance of trying to beat them.
“It will be difficult for us, but we are playing a Premier League side and should be excited by that.”

Ball wants a reaction from Blues
West Ham sold out

The Blues will host the Hammers in the lunchtime kick-off on Saturday October 19 to a packed out Goodison Park.

Key man missing for Owls
Sheffield Wednesday defender Tom Lees is set to miss tonight’s game against the Blues.
The Owls’ boss Garry Monk confirmed the centre-back is likely to miss the Carabao Cup clash on Tuesday evening.
“He will probably miss Everton but we will see what he is like for the weekend,” Monk told the Sheffield Star.
“It is not a hugely serious injury, but I think it is more with Tom’s history that he needs that little bit of extra time.”
Howard's Way
This looks so good.
Marco Silva's warning
Everton boss Marco Silva has warned his players there is no hiding place ahead of tonight’s Carabao Cup clash against Sheffield Wednesday.
The Blues lost 2-0 at home the to Yorkshire club’s cross city rivals Sheffield United on Saturday, and Silva wants a reaction from his squad.
“It is not the moment for anyone to hide,” The manager told.
“I said it inside the dressing room, too (after the Sheffield United defeat) there is nowhere we can hide, we have to show stronger character, personality.
“It is a moment for us to go and play football and to take responsibility as well... I am always here for our fans, I will not hide, no one can hide.
“We have to look at respecting the competition, respecting our goals for that competition and what we want to achieve in it.
“We have to be strong, we want to go to the next round, so that is what we want, a reaction in this game.”
