Don’t give ticket to outsider against CM, Cong workers to Wasnik

Nagpur: Corporators and prominent Congress leaders of Nagpur South-West assembly constituency have urged party’s Vidarbha election in-charge Mukul Wasnik not to field an outsider against chief minister Devendra Fadnavis. A letter in this regard has been dispatched to the senior leader. The signatories to the letter include city Congress president Vikas Thakre.
Former minister Nitin Raut had told the media that a strong candidate must be fielded against the CM. The constituency’s party workers fear that a surprise candidate will be foisted on them.

Those who have signed the letter have stated that they have been working in the constituency since last 30 years. If an outsider is given the ticket it will create discontent among party workers and demoralize them. Therefore while deciding the candidate against Fadnavis, only a Congress leader from Nagpur South-West constituency should be considered, they have demanded.
The situation has arisen as Congress leader Praful Gudadhe, who had contested against Fadnavis in 2014, has sought a ticket from Nagpur West this time. This has deprived the party of a strong local leader. The party leaders are thinking of fielding OBC leader Narendra Jichkar, who is from Nagpur West, or former BJP MLA Ashish Deshmukh, who is from Katol.
