The mercury hit a mild 18.5 degrees this morning, but that didn't stop top AFL players from stripping right down to their shorts today on the field during a public training session.

Players from the Greater Western Sydney Giants held an open training session at WestConnex Centre at Sydney Olympic Park this morning ahead of their maiden Grand Final on Saturday, and invited supporters to come along to cheer them on.

But despite the cooler temperatures on the field, some players didn't shy away from flexing their muscles for the fans.

Shirtless players including Josh Kelly, Heath Shaw, Matt de Boer, and Stephen Coniglio performed kicking drills, while Toby Green rode an exercise bike in front of eager fans.

The training session took place as players prepare to take on the Richmond Tigers in the AFL Grand Final on Saturday.

The Giants survived a late surge from the Collingwood Magpies last Friday to take a four point victory at the MCG.

The Richmond Tigers trailed by 20 points on Friday early but kicked eight of the last 10 goals against Geelong at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
