KOLKATA: A home guard posted at Jorabagan traffic guard was allegedly assaulted and bitten by an auto driver at the crossing of Rabindra Sarani and Nimtala Ghat Street on Sunday morning.

The home guard, Biplab Biswas, had tried to stop the auto driver, Manish Kumar Singh, and his two friends from taking an illegal U turn as he was making the road free of any obstruction for the passage of Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar’s car. The auto was plying on the B K Pal Avenue-Ganesh Talkies route. The police are looking for his two associates. “As I stopped the auto, the driver came out and started hitting me. He kept on saying that he called the shots in the area,” said Biswas.
Police said Singh, who had earlier been engaged in altercations with cops, was later arrested.
