MARKET WRAP: Sensex ends flat, Nifty slips below 11,600; IT stocks gain big

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

Stock market
Benchmark indices were trading in the red in a range-bound session on Tuesday. 
 
The S&P BSE Sensex of the BSE was trading over 100 points or 0.35 per cent lower at 38,950 levels while the Nifty50 index of the NSE was quoting 41 points or 0.35 per cent lower at 11,559 levels. 

In the broader market, the S&P BSE MidCap index was down 81 points or 0.56 per cent lower at 14,474 and the S&P BSE SmallCap index was trading at 13,556.38, down 9 points or 0.06 per cent.

Among the sectoral indices on the NSE, except pharma, IT and media, all the counters were trading in the red. Nifty Bank was trading over 600 points or nearly 2 per cent lower at 29,956.50 levels. 
 
BUZZING STOCKS

Shares of Apollo Pipes gained 5 per cent to Rs 397 apiece in the intra-day trade on Tuesday, thus adding 10 per cent in the past two sessions, after ace investor Ashish Kacholia acquired nearly 2 per cent stake in the company via open market. READ MORE 

Shares of Thomas Cook India slipped up to 12 per cent to Rs 135 in intra-day deals on the BSE on Tuesday, despite clarifying that the company has not received intimation from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) over any 'suspicious’ transaction. The stock was trading close to its 52-week low of Rs 121, touched on August 23, 2019. READ MORE
