“We could not do our business as there is no fixed price for yarn,” K Balasubramaniam, secretary of Chithode power-loom owners association. He said yarn manufacturers fix price twice in a day.
“We have to send the fabric to various sections before it is send for sales,” Balasubramaniam said.
“We face a loss of at least Rs 5 per metre due to fluctuations in the yarn rate,” he said.
Meanwhile, the commissioner of textiles, Coimbatore, has convened a meeting with yarn manufacturers and power loom unit owners on Wednesday. “We will continue our strike till we get a fruitful decision in the meeting,” Balasubramaniam added.
The power loom unit owners urged the central and state governments to look into the issue at the earliest as they have started getting orders for Diwali.
