Cost-effective manufacturing of energy systems is key to achieving the objectives of e-mobility in the country, S. Somanath, director, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), has said.
Mr. Somanath was speaking after inaugurating a one-day national conference on ‘Manufacturing trends in electrochemical energy systems’ organised by the Thiruvananthapuram regional centre of Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE-TVRC).
Mr. Somanath underlined the need to identify cost-effective ways to build Lithium-ion batteries, fuel cells, supercapacitors and hybrid systems.
He urged the chemical engineering community to take up the challenge.
N. Narayana Moorthy, chairman, Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation; V. Kishorenath, Associate Director, VSSC, and S. Alwan, former group director with VSSC offered felicitations. IIChE-TVRC chairman R. Muraleekrishnan, C.R. Thomas, chairman, organizing committee, and Dr. Shaneeth M., convener, organising committee, spoke.
An exhibition of related technology products was organised as part of the event, a pressnote said.
