Woman constable ends life

Varanasi: A woman constable committed suicide in barracks of police line in Ballia district. Meanwhile in Varanasi, a constable was held after his wife was found hanging with ceiling of their room.
Body of woman constable Nitu Yadav (24) was found hanging with ceiling fan of a room of police lines barrack in Ballia on Monday morning. Inmates of the barrack spotted the body and reported the matter to senior officers. Later, the police informed her family and sent the body for postmortem.
A suicide note allegedly left by Nitu was recovered from the room. In the note, Nitu had held a constable and a woman constable responsible for her suicide. Taking note of it, SP Ballia Devendra Nath said that investigation in the matter has been started.
Nitu, a native of Barsathi area in Jaunpur district had joined police service in 2018. Currently she was posted at the office of special prosecution officer of district police.
Earlier in another incident, body of Shristi alias Goldee (23), wife of police constable Amit Kumar posted at Dashaswamedh police station, was found hanging from ceiling of her room in Senpura area under the limits of Chetganj police station on Sunday.
The incident came to light when Amit returned. He reported the matter to Chetganj police and Shristi’s parents. The woman’s family claimed it to be a murder for dowry. Police took Amit under custody for interrogation after sending the body for postmortem.
