Two gamers held for cyber fraud in Ahmedabad

AHMEDABAD: Their addiction of playing PUBG and ‘Teen Patti’ online made Nikunj Khant, a civil engineer, and his friend Hitesh Patel come up with a unique way to cheat people for their in-game payments.
Cyber cell of the city police arrested both on Monday for cheating a man named Tushar Mattu. Apparently, the duo siphoned off Rs 16,666 from Mattu’s debit card without even needing an OTP, and by using Google Octro.
Inspector of cyber cell, V B Barad said the analysis of the victim’s bank account showed such 31 transactions totalling Rs 16,666 which the duo had made for their in-game payments.

“We obtained information from the search engine regarding the device used for doing the transactions. We got the IP address of Khant’s phone and nabbed him. Through him we caught Hitesh Patel of Amraiwadi who was his accomplice,” Barad said.
Cyber cell sources said the duo had taken the help of one Natu Thakor to obtain the details of the debit card of the victim.
