Extraordinary footage of a football fan being smashed to the ground with a brutal shoulder charge while celebrating his team's first taste of premiership glory in 33 years has gone viral.

The young man was filmed dancing for joy moments after his beloved Glenelg Tigers defeated the Port Adelaide Magpies by 28 points in the South Australian National Football League grand final on Sunday.

A spectator walking past with his young son took offence to the oblivious fan's antics and knocked him to the ground from behind in an unprovoked attack in front of almost 40,000 fans at a packed Adelaide Oval.

Unperturbed, the fan bounced straight back to his feet with a laugh and carried on with his celebratory dance to his team's victory song as if the violence never happened.

The older fan can be seen in the background being stopped and questioned by venue staff who witnessed the brutal hit.

Footage of the incident has since gone viral on social media with thousands of views, shares and comments.

'Yes it’s wrong but damn son, that’s a well executed hip and shoulder,' one fan wrote on the S**t Adelaide Facebook page.

Many praised the young fan for not retaliating and slammed the rival fan's actions in front of his child.

That is shocking behaviour in front of his son too. I hope the police pay him a visit and he is charged,' one wrote.

Another added: 'The players face penalties for that kind of behaviour and so should the fans to. Fine him and ban him from games.'

But others saw the funny side.

'That's the hardest port were all day,' one fan quipped.

Another added: 'Port Adelaide needs to recruit the bloke, might have a better chance winning the flag.'

It was Glenelg's first premiership in 33 years and played in their first final series since 2011.

The incident wasn't the only AFL final marred by violence on the weekend.

Around 20 fans were evicted from the MCG during the Collingwood Magpies' heartbreaking preliminary final loss against GWS Giants on Saturday night.

Three men were subdued with capsicum spray after they refused to move on following an ugly melee between spectators, security and police.

Four men received penalty notices for riotous behaviour while another was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Richmond Tigers fans hope for similar premiership celebrations when their team take on the Giants in the AFL grand final at the MCG on Saturday.

It will Richmond's second premiership in three seasons if they win and go into the grand final as red hot favourites.
