20 finalists from schools across 13 States to vie for top spot at essay competition

PUNE: The Kalyani School in Manjari (Budruk) will host the grand finale of the ‘sixth Nanhi Chhaan national school essay contest 2019’ on September 27. The national-level school essay contest is an initiative of the Nanhi Chhaan Foundation to promote lateral thinking at the grass-roots level by creating awareness of social issues and concerns. A statement issued by the school said that, the objective of the initiative was to develop and create well-informed leaders of tomorrow to build a socially conscious, inclusive and vibrant community.
The semi-finals of the contest will be held on September 26, wherein the shortlisted finalists will have to write an essay on a topic that will be shared on the spot. On September 27, a topic for panel discussion will be shared with the finalists, and on the basis of the overall assessment by jury members, the winners will be announced.
The topic for this year’s contest was ’How to create greater harmony among different religions’ and saw participation from 50,000 students representing 2000 schools spread across the length and breadth of the country. Two essays from each school were selected after independent assessment, and shortlisted essays were then assessed by professors of the Delhi Literature Society and a team from the leading audit firm, KPMG.
The finale will be attended Baba Kalyani, chairman, Kalyani Group among other eminent personalities from education and other fields. It will also feature cultural programs by children of The Kalyani School, added the statement.
Director of The Kalyani Schoolse event, Deeksha Kalyani said in the statement that, “Our endeavour has always been to not only impart knowledge but also to instil strong ethics and a sense of community well being, and focus on a holistic and all-round development of our children who will create a positive influence on society going forward.”
