One killed, 2 hurt in Jharkhand mob attack over 'cow slaughter'

RANCHI: One person was killed and two others were injured after a mob thrashed them for allegedly slaughtering a cow in Jaltanga village in Jharkhand on Sunday.

Sources said the villagers had been keeping a watch on "unchecked illegal cow-slaughter" and on Sunday, some villagers were informed about an alleged cow-slaughter. They rushed to the spot and saw three people with the carcass of a cow. The group immediately pounced on the three men.
Cops rushed to the spot and rescued the three people. They were taken to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, where one of the victims succumbed during treatment. DIG A V Homkar said eight people have been detained for the attack.
