Two dogs in the driver's seat as woman busted with pets on lap
A Gold Coast woman has been caught by Queensland police driving with two unrestrained dogs on her lap.
Footage released by police shows the woman driving along the motorway near Mudgeeraba with her driver's window down and one small dog leaning out of the window.
Another dog was inside the car on her lap.
A Road Policing Command Officer noticed the dog hanging out the window and followed the motorist, pulling her over at a service station.
"That's absolutely ridiculous," the officer could be heard saying as he watched the woman driving.
"Two dogs on her lap."
At the service station the officer asked the woman if she knew why she had been pulled over.
"Because of my dogs?" she asked.
"Yeah. You can't have two dogs on your lap," the officer said.
"Bit distracting. One of them was out the window, the other one was bouncing around the dash."
The 35-year-old Mudgeeraba woman agreed to restrain her dogs and was fined $311.
Police warned that anyone driving with an unrestrained animal could be fined.
