Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national president and Leader of the Opposition N. Chandrababu Naidu wrote an open letter to Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy holding the State government responsible for the alleged leak of examination papers for Village Secretariat recruitment. He wanted the government to re-conduct the examination and see that all eligible persons are recruited.
In the letter on Sunday, Mr. Naidu said there were allegations that the question paper was leaked. candidates were alleging there was no response from the helpline though hundreds of calls were made.
“The manner in which the examination was conducted brought disgrace to the State government and AP Public Service Commission that conducted the examination. Never in the past, a recruitment examination was conducted in such a slipshod manner.
Seen in the context of YSRC MP Vijaya Sai Reddy’s comments that 90% of the successful candidates were ruling party workers gives credence to the allegations that the papers were leaked. The government should take responsibility and initiate action against all those involved in the episode,” he said.
Mr. Naidu, explaining the importance of good administration, stressed the need to conduct the examinations in a transparent manner. Mr. Jagan, while in Opposition, had said in one context in the Assembly. “It appears the government is brushing it aside, saying it is a small issue. In other States, Chief Ministers resigned when similar incidents took place,” Mr. Naidu recalled.
‘String of failures’
“I leave it to the judgement of Mr. Jagan whether he sticks to his earlier statement and resigns or ask his Panchayat Raj and Education Ministers to tender their resignations,” Mr. Naidu said.
In a series of tweets, the former Chief Minister said it was unfortunate that a situation has arisen where he had to write an open letter to Mr. Jagan. “During the last four months, the State has faced many problems due to inexperience, inability, favouritism, and vengeful attitude of Mr. Jagan. The YSRCP MP claimed that he has data to show that 90% of the village volunteer jobs were secured by ruling party workers. What more evidences the government wanted. Mr. Jagan earlier stated that Chief Ministers of other states tendered resignations when similar incidents took place. What for Mr. Jagan was waiting. Does he need an auspicious time to resign, he asked.
