Fuel prices have started witnessing a hike since the past few months, burning a hole in the pockets of the commuters.
Petrol rates have risen by Rs 1.5 per litre and diesel by Rs 1.43 per litre in the past 15 days. On Sunday, petrol was priced at Rs 69.38 per litre and diesel at 63.43 per litre. If the last five days of this week are taken together, petrol price has jumped by Re 1.03 while that of diesel by 86 paise.
The prices, however, saw a gradual hike ranging from Rs 0.18/lt to Rs 0.36/lt on a daily basis in the past 25 days. In the biggest single-day increase during the last one month, the price of petrol rose up by 35 paise and that of diesel by 28 paise a day ago.
Crude oil rates saw one of its biggest single-day jump in recent times on Friday this week after drone attacks on Saudi Arabia's oil facilities destroyed about 5% of the world's oil supplies.
However, in the past one year,
petrol prices came down by Rs 11.29 per litre and diesel by Rs 11.44 per litre. On October 1, 2018, petrol was priced at Rs 80.67 per litre and diesel at Rs 74.87 per litre. On January 1, petrol was priced at Rs 64.90 per litre while diesel at Rs 59.66 per litre on January 1 in Chandigarh.
