Ranchi: Battling to stay politically relevant,
JVM-P chief and former CM Babulal Marandi on Monday said more than the opposition parties, it is the ruling BJP which seems to be highly nervous ahead of the upcoming assembly polls. Unwilling to stop despite losses in 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha polls and defections of leaders from his party, Marandi said his party will emerge as a strong force in the 2019 assembly polls. Two of his key leaders—Pradeep Yadav (Poriyahat MLA) and former minister Bandhu Tirkey — are currently in jail.
On Sep 25, JVM-P is set to host a mega pre-poll rally titled ‘Janadesh Samagam’ which will kickstart the party’s poll campaign, Marandi said. “The rally is scheduled at Prabhat Tara ground in HEC from where we shall do shanknaad(sound poll bugle) for assembly polls,” he added.
The rally is intended to elect the party’s central president and deliberate on the course of its fight for the vidhan sabha polls. Marandi will formally file his nomination for the post of party president on Tuesday and is expected to get elected unopposed. “The gathering will be huge in size both in terms of people and our resolve,” Marandi said.
