MYSURU: Rangayana will host the annual BV Karanth College Rangothsava at Bhoomigeethe from September 24 to October 5.
Over 300 students in nine teams, including from Kushalnagar and Mandya, will take part in the event.

V N Mallikarjunaswamy, joint director, Rangayana, said, “The Rangothsava event, which is being conducted since 2005, has become a platform for many budding theatre artistes. Every year, on an average, more than 50% of the students who take part in the theatre fest are taking up theatre professionally.”
Chidambara Rao Jambe, former director of Rangayana, said: “Initially, when the event started, just four to five colleges came forward to take part, but now it is receiving an overwhelming response. Around nine colleges are taking part in the event. It has become a good platform for budding artistes.”

Sanjay Upadhyay, theatre director, asked the authorities to take theatre further by attracting more children. Though it is a good initiative by the government, the authorities must go further and conduct more programmes throughout the year. “Conducting an event for just ten days will not serve any purpose. We should conduct various events, including workshops for children,” he said.
The event will be inaugurated by Upadhyay at 6.30pm on Tuesday.
