Urea shortage in Kagaznagar

more-in

Farmers staged a rasta roko once again in Kagaznagar town near the Agriculture Market Committee yard on Monday as urea came in short supply. Authorities were issuing only one bag of urea per farmer though the requirement of individual farmers was around 3 to 5 bags.

Farmers stopped Collector Rajeevgandhi Hanumanthu’s vehicle and sought his intervention in the issue.

He was passing by while proceeding to Easgaon to participate in the 30-day special action plan for gram panchayats.

The chemical fertilizer is in short supply since the past 15 days and the Congress party has been agitating over it.

Party’s Sirpur constituency in-charge Palvai Harish Babu, who staged a rasta roko, alleged that urea is being sold for an exorbitant ₹500 a bag in black market while authorities are trying to convince farmers that the supply is irregular.
