AHMEDABAD: A travel firm through its accountant on Sunday filed a complaint against an employee of cheating them Rs 11 lakh.
In his FIR with Ellisbridge police, Pragnesh Patel, accountant with Tsunami Travels private limited located near Parimal Garden, states that an assistant accountant named Pavan Gurnani, 28, allegedly sold airline tickets worth Rs 11.07 lakh and profited by keeping the firm in the dark.
Patel said before police that Gurnani, a resident of Krishnanagar, was employed at the firm in April 2016 and was given the responsibility of reconciliation and verifying customer details.
In August 2018, Gurnani left the job, after which Patel was given additional responsibility to look after Gurnani's work too. Recently, when Patel was checking the account books, he found some irregularities. On probing further, Patel found that Gurnani had availed air tickets using the travel firm's unique identification number but he did not deposit the money in the firm’s accounts.

When Gurnani was asked about this, he confessed his offence and promised that he would return the money. But later he went incommunicado.
After this, Patel approached Ellisbridge police and filed a complaint of cheating and breach of trust against Gurnani.
