ST. JOSEPH, Mich. — Tom Lavander, former Ford Motor Co. engineer and program manager, died June 13. He was 69.
Lavander worked on programs such as the 1989 Ford Thunderbird and Mercury Cougar and the 1993 Lincoln Mark VIII. The highlight of his career was in the Special Vehicle Team group as program manager of the SVT Contour. He also worked on the launch of the Ranger Tremor and Harley-Davidson F series. He retired from Ford in 2002.
