PUNE: The customs department of Pune on Sunday arrested Nigerian national after searches conducted at his residence in Undri near Kondhwa led to the recovery of cocaine.
The officials from the customs anti-narcotics cell had received reliable information that the searches in Samson Vincet Maxwell’s (30) resident led to the recovery of white coloured substance confirmed as cocaine weighing 35.20 grams worth Rs 2.81 lakh in the illicit market. The other articles recovered include digital weighing scale used for measuring the contraband drug, passport of the suspect and other evidence.
Vaishali Patange, Joint commissioner (customs) in a statement issued on Monday said, “Maxwell has admitted to his crime of procurement, possession of cocaine for sale in Pune. He has been placed under arrest and remanded to judicial custody. Based on the inputs revealed from the suspect the supplier and the receiver of the seized contraband is being probed by our officers.”

The officials said investigations have revealed that Maxwell had come to India for the first time on a tourist visa in 2017. He visited India for the second time on a business visa and then on a student visa but he has not taken admission in any educational institutes in the city.
The officials suspect that Maxwell may have smuggled the narcotics from Nigeria to Mumbai and then transported to Pune through a known person for selling it to a prospective customer for getting fast money.
