PUNE: A 40-year-old killed after an argument broke out over buying a
cigarette in
Pimpri late on Friday night. The police on Saturday arrested two youths and detained their two minor accomplices in this case.
The police have identified the deceased as Shyam Kisan Khandagale of Nehrunagar in Pimpri. The arrested youths have been identified as Akash Kharat (22) and Vijay
Sawant (20), both of Bhosari.
Khandagale’s nephew Karan Dhurandahre has lodged an FIR with the police.
The police said that Khandgale, Dhurandhare and two others were walking towards their home on Friday around 11.30am, the suspects and their two minor accomplices were standing along the road. “One of the minors stopped Khandagale and told him to bring a cigarette for him,” the officer said.
Khandagale reprimanded the minor for asking such thing to the person who was elder than him, following which, the minor then had slapped Khandagale. “Furious by this Khandagel pushed him down. When he tried to catch him, the latter fled from there along with the accomplices,” the police said.
He said that within a few minutes they returned and one of the minors stabbed Khandagale into his stomach. While other thrashed him with hands and legs and bludgeoned him to death with a stone. “The suspects had fled from the spot. We detained them on Saturday. Our probe is on,” the officer added.
