Three loan sharks threaten borrower, booked

RAJKOT: Three loan sharks have been booked in Rajkot for allegedly threatening a person with dire consequences. The offence is registered with Bhaktinagar police station of city on Friday night.

According to police, Atul Majitiya (49) had registered the offence against Bipin Buddhdev, Umesh Dattani and Sanjaysinh Zala allies Chintu Zala under IPC sections 386, 504 and 506 (2) and the Money Laundering Act. In his complaint, Atul stated that he is working as insurance agent and borrowed Rs 15 lakh from Bipin Buddhdev in 2015 and repaid Rs 22.55 lakh against the loan. However, Bipin kept pressurizing him to cough up more money and forced him to sign a blank cheque.
Atul had also borrowed Rs 6.50 lakh in 2017 from Umesh Dattani and paid Rs 50,000 as interest. He also borrowed Rs 10 lakh four months ago from Sanjaysinh Zala and paid Rs 2 lakh as interest. However, Sanjaysinh started demanding more money and Atul was forced to mortgage his brother’s office as surety to Shaktisinh Jadeja who is believed to be a relative of Sanjaysinh. Atul had also allegedly received threats of life from the accused, the complaint stated.
