Andhra Pradesh: Three Maoists killed in exchange of fire in Vizag Agency

VISAKHAPATNAM: At least three Maoists were killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in the reserve forest area near Madimalli area under Gummarevula Panchayat of GK Veedhi Mandal, close to the Darakonda in Vizag Agency on Sunday.
The incident took place during the red-rebels’ weekly celebrations of CPI Maoist Formation Day. It may be recalled that the Maoists gave all to celebrate the event for a week till September 27.
Exactly a year ago (September 23, 2018), the Maoists gunned down the then Araku Valley MLA Kidari Sarveswara Rao and the former Araku Valley MLA Siveri Soma near Livitput under Dumbriguda Mandal in Vizag Agency.

The police said that based on the intelligence reports on the presence of the Maoists in Vizag Agency, they have intensified the combing operations. The exchange of fire lasted for over 30 minutes before some Maoists escaped into the forest, police said.
Vizag Rural Police chief Babujee Attada confirmed the death of three Maoists in the exchange of fire and he said that the exchange of fire is going on. The police are yet to establish the identity of the deceased Maoists and they will get a clear picture on the number of the deceased, seizure of the weapons and few others by Sunday evening, he added.
