JAIPUR: A 70-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a youth at her village in Dausa on Friday night. The accused barged into her house where she was alone with her granddaughter and assaulted her. Police are hunting for the man who the woman claimed was drunk. The complainant, a widow, said she was asleep when the accused, aged around 25 years, entered her house and raped her. Kamlesh, the SHO of Nangal Rajvatan where the case was registered said, “The woman told us that around 11 pm, a youth from the village entered her house and raped her. She stated that the accused, who appeared to be drunk, fled after the assault.”
Police said the elderly woman did not raise any alarm initially, but took her five-year-old granddaughter to a neighbour’s house after the accused fled and told them about the ordeal. She lives with her granddaughter as her son works in Jaipur.
“There are few things in her statement which still need to be cleared, especially the fact as to why she did not shout for help. The complainant waited for the youth to flee before informing anyone. However, since she has accused a local, we will arrest him soon. To sexually assault anyone is a heinous crime, especially an elderly woman who was probably unable to fight him off. This is a serious matter and we are looking for the accused,” the SHO added.
The woman’s medical examination was done and a case under Section 375 (rape) was registered.

This is the second case in just over a month when a senior citizen was sexually assaulted. Last month, a 90-year-old visually impaired woman was raped by a drunk man who was arrested following the complaint.
