As part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s outreach efforts to justify the abrogation of Article 370, party’s national working president J.P. Nadda on Sunday met Jnanpith awardee Chandrashekar Kambar and former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid.
Accompanied by BJP national general secretary and Karnataka in charge Muralidhar Rao and State president Nalin Kumar Kateel, among other party leaders, Mr. Nadda met Mr. Kambar at his Banashankari residence and Mr. Dravid at his home in Dollars Colony. Mr. Nadda explained to them about the government’s decision to abrogate Article 370. While he outlined the reasons for the decision and also the benefits, there were exchange of thoughts on the issue.
Meanwhile, Mr. Nadda addressed a convention on Palace Grounds to create awareness about abrogation of Article 370. At the convention, he said the Union government had provided an opportunity for the people of Jammu and Kashmir to join the mainstream through such a measure, which he said had been taken in national interest.
He said that so far, people of Jammu and Kashmir were living as second-grade citizens. They would now get more opportunities for growth, he said.
