Chennai Egmore–Tiruchi Rockfort Express and a few other trains suffered detention midway after a signal cable snapped at Tindivanam in the late hours of Saturday.
Rockfort Express reached Tiruchi Junction over five hours behind schedule on Sunday morning due to the technical glitch, causing hardship to passengers.
Railway sources said Chennai Egmore–Velankannai Express also had a delayed arrival due to the problem at Tindivanam falling under Chennai Railway Division limits.
The other trains which suffered detention midway due to this technical problem were Kanniyakumari-Chennai Egmore, Tiruchendur-Chennai Egmore, Tuticorin–Chennai Egmore and Nagercoil–Tambaram expresses.
