HYDERABAD: Law minister A Indrakaran Reddy on Saturday said there was no proposal to shift the Telangana high court to Budvel in
Rajendranagar mandal from the Old City. The minister made this statement in the assembly in the wake of lawyers’ protests and objections raised by AIMIM MLAs.
Some MLAs also raised queries during the question hour and the minister clarified that there was no proposal to shift the high court from the existing location.
The agitating lawyers, who formed Telangana High Court Parirakshana Samithi, have been holding protests against the proposed move and demanding that the government take back its decision.
AIMIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi also raised the issue in the House and said the only major institution — high court — in the Old City should not be moved out. He demanded that the government withdraw the proposal forthwith and suggested that the City College premises could be utilised to run the high court matters.
