RAJKOT: A male
teacher of government primary school was
booked on Thursday for allegedly molesting a 10-year-old
deaf and speech-impaired girl in the school storeroom on September 11 in Chiroda village of Mendarda taluka of Junagadh district.
The accused Jaman Alabhai Luhar is absconding and police have issued a look out notice for him.
According to case details, Luhar had called the class V girl to the storeroom on September 11 under some pretext and allegedly molested her.
Since the girl is deaf and speech-impaired , she could not properly describe what had happened to her mother.
Her mother, however, understood that something wrong had happened to her daughter and so, along with her husband, lodged a complaint to the school principal Kishor Makwana the next day.
Makwana took help of the girl’s speech teacher Varshaben to understand what happened and after getting the details, lodged a complaint with Junagadh district education officer (DEO) on September 13.
But when no further action was initiated by the school authorities against Luhar, the girl’s parents approached the Mendarda police and filed a criminal complaint against the teacher.
