The event, held during the São Paulo Boat Show, the largest indoor nautical salon in Latin America, brings together mayors, secretaries and industry agents and aims to promote the nautical sector and develop tourism in the area by exchanging experiences and debates on income and employment generation, infrastructure and the environment.
The Minister of Tourism stressed that the meeting involves the main representatives of the sector and promotes concrete actions that benefit tourism.
“This meeting is fundamental to understanding the current scenario and the needs of each city and the private sector so that we can create effective projects and ultimately concrete actions that will benefit tourists,” he said.
Brazil has more than 7,000 km of coastline and 35,000 km of inland waterways, as well as 9,260 km of freshwater reservoir margins, lakes and lagoons, bathed by navigable ocean currents. This makes Brazil one of the largest development potentials of nautical ecotourism in the world.
Several strands of nautical tourism are explored in the country, such as fishing tourism, diving tourism and cruise tourism. In the 2018/2019 season cruises was responsible for an economic impact of $ 2.083 billion in the country’s economy. There were 462,000 boarded cruisers (growth of 10.5% compared to the previous 418,000), 31,992 jobs in the Brazilian economy, 15.3% more than in the previous period.
Fishing is also a major attraction for tourism in Brazil. According to the National Association of Ecology and Sport Fishing (Anepe), sport fishing generates revenues of $ 3 billion in Brazil per year.
