New Delhi:
Zinc prices edged up 0.3 per cent to Rs 185.60 per kg in futures trade on Wednesday as speculators widened positions amid demand in the spot market.
On the
Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc contracts for September delivery traded up by 55 paise, or 0.3 per cent, to Rs 185.60 per kg with a business turnover of 1,629 lots.
The metal contracts for October delivery rose by 55 paise, or 0.29 per cent, to Rs 188.30 per kg in 38 lots.
However, at the London Metal Exchange (LME) zinc traded lower by 0.68 per cent at $2,349 per metric tonne.
Copper
Copper prices traded up by 75 paise at Rs 452.30 per kg in futures trade on Wednesday on pick-up in spot demand and increasing of positions by speculators.
Higher prices of the metal in the global market also strengthened the sentiment, traders said .
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper contracts for September delivery traded higher by 75 paise, or 0.17 per cent, to Rs 452.30 per kg in a business turnover lots of 1,562.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in October edged up by 35 paise, or 0.08 per cent, to Rs 454.50 per kg in 177 lots.
Globally, the metal was trading higher at $263.10 per pound on the London Metal Exchange.
Nickel
Nickel prices moved up by Rs 7.70 to Rs 1,221.30 per kg in futures trade on Wednesday as speculators enlarged their positions driven by firm demand from alloy-makers in the spot market.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel contracts for September delivery gained Rs 7.70, or 0.63 per cent, to Rs 1,221.30 per kg in a business turnover of 4,474 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in October traded up by Rs 5.40 at Rs 1,220.40 per kg in a business turnover of 527 lots.
Rising demand at spot markets from alloy-makers supported price rise in copper futures, analysts said.
Lead
Lead prices rose by 10 paise to Rs 153.95 per kg in futures trade on Wednesday due to pick-up in demand at the spot market.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead contracts for September delivery traded up by 10 paise, or 0.06 per cent, to Rs 153.95 per kg in a business turnover of 871 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in October was up by 10 paise, or 0.07 per cent, to Rs 154.45 per kg in 20 lots.
Market analysts attributed the rise in lead futures to pick-up in demand from battery makers in the spot market.
