AMMK general secretary TTV Dhinakaran is facing internal turbulence within the party and the rift between the family members of VK Sasikala is widening, according to informed AMMK insiders.

Unconfirmed reports claim that sulking AIADMK and pro-BJP think tanks are in touch with the jailed Sasikala to unite the AIADMK factions ahead of 2021 general Assembly polls. 

There were also a select media reports stating that former woman IAS officer close to the BJP top brass has reached out to Sasikala to help her handle the crisis. “Most of the relatives of Chinnama are keen on entering politics, but Dhinakaran’s dominance had forced them to shy away from politics. 

The dominating character of the TTV’s coterie had also irked the family members of Ilavarasi, a relative of Sasikala and Dhivakaran, Sasikala’s brother,” an informed AMMK source and a member of the Sasikala clan told DT Next conforming that there are issues within the AMMK and the Sasikala’s family.  

Meanwhile, Karnataka AMMK strongman Pugazhendi is taking efforts to meet the ousted AIADMK leader in Parapana Agraharam to appraise her on the issues in AMMK. 

“I will meet Chinnamma shortly and explain the reasons for the rift between me and the party leader Dhinakaran,” Pugazhendi told DT Next. “It is a fact that the AMMK is undergoing turbulence due to some vested interests misguiding our leader… I am confident that Chinnamma will understand the issue and take steps to rectify the problems. I also reached out to Dhinakaran, but of no use,” he added.
