What Would You Call The BMW Concept 4’s Grille? Coffins? Waffle Iron? Beaver Teeth? Have Your Say

In this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show we’ve seen a host of new and exciting vehicles, but if there is one car that’s turned more heads and triggered more debate than any other, it would have to be the BMW Concept 4.

Introduced as a preview to the latest-generation M3 and M4, the Concept 4 has a sharp and bold design dominated by what is perhaps the car manufacturer’s craziest grille ever. Virtually everyone we’ve seen comment on it had nothing positive to say.

In the lead-up to the concept’s premiere, a handful of spy shots and renderings provided us with a glimpse of the huge new kidney grille. Some of our readers fittingly dubbed it the ‘coffin grille’, which we found to be hilarious. Since the concept’s debut, more suggestions have been made about the best way to describe the grille. They include the ‘waffle iron’ and perhaps our personal favorite, the ‘beaver teeth’.

Spy shots of the new M3 and M4 indicate that the new cars will adopt the tall new kidney grille but, in all likelihood, feature more traditional slats. While there is a chance the production version will look better, we’re not particularly hopeful.

Now, back to the original question: what nickname do you think fits the Concept 4’s rather unusual grille design? Have your say in the Comments section below – and although this isn’t a contest, it’s going to be very interesting to see what you, our readers, can come up with.
