CHANDIGARH/GURUGRAM: In what can be seen as huge respite for the commuters in Gurugram, the
Haryana government has entered into an
agreement with the
Delhi Metro Railway Corporation (DMRC) to run metro in the city. The state has entered the new agreement with
DMRC after Rapid Metrorail had decided to close its operations.
An information in this regard was made before the Punjab and Haryana high court on Tuesday by senior advocate Chetan Mittal during the hearing of an on-going petition related to the issue. Mittal is representing the Haryana Mass Rapid
Transport Corporation Ltd (HMRTCL) and Haryana Sahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) before the HC against the closure of Rapid Metrorail Gurugram.
As the terms of handing over the operation and maintenance of Gurugram Rapid Metro are yet to be finalized, the HC on Tuesday asked the Rapid Metrorail to continue its operations till September 18.
The matter would again come up for hearing before the HC on Wednesday.
The matter had reached before the HC through a petition filed by Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation Ltd (HMRTCL) and Haryana Sahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) against the closure of Rapid Metrorail Gurugram.
