The police have introduced CIMS (Central Intrusion Monitoring System) in the district to alert the police control room in case of break-ins at banks, business firms or houses. Alerts will reach the control room in seconds.
The system, which will provide 24-hour security for institutions and houses, has been introduced under the Home Department with the support of KELTRON.
The security programme, which will function under the sub-inspectors, will work in three shifts in the control room of the police headquarters. The system was inaugurated at KMJ jewellery in the city by City Police Commissioner Yathish Chandra.
The system has cameras, sensors and a control panel. In case of any attack or theft, the camera and sensor will alert the control room within 3-7 seconds along with a live video. The system will also alert the local police control room with a route map. The system will be advantages as the police will get to know about the type of crime and movement of criminals before they reached the crime scene.
Establishments will have to pay ₹500 and above a month to be part of the system.
The police are also planning to introduce face recognition cameras as part of the system. This will help identify if the person was on the wanted list of the police.
