Karsan Bhai Patel of Gujarat started selling this detergent, but he was not getting any success. He had a young daughter named Nirupama and people called her Nirma. The Karsan brothers loved their daughter very much and wanted her to earn name and fame across India, but her daughter died in an accident.
After her death, he remained depressed and decided that he would immortalize his daughter's name. He had a picture of her, which was not common in those days because cameras were very rare then. He printed that picture on his products and started selling it as Nirma. He was lucky and got a lot of success from it. People today recognize these products as Nirma.
