garbage collection with effect from July this year.
Municipal commissioner Shravan Hardikar on Tuesday told TOI that the residents would have to pay the charges along with the

Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) issues the bi-annual property tax bills in October and March. “We are yet to decide whether the garbage collection charges will be included in the bill of October or March,” he said.
The state government had in July issued a resolution about the collection of “garbage collection user charges” that the citizens have to pay for the service in their respective civic limits. The charges depend on how a municipal corporation is categorized, depending on its population.
Each house has to pay Rs60 as monthly charge for the service in the ‘A’ and ‘B’ categories of municipal corporations, while a property owner living in the ‘C’ and ‘D’ category municipal corporation limits has to pay Rs50 a month. Cities such as Pune, Nagpur and Pimpri Chinchwad are in the first category.
Educational and religious institutes, hostels and government/ semi-government offices will have to pay Rs120 as monthly charges for the service. Marriage and entertainment halls, single-screen theatres and purchase centres/ multi-screen theatre will have to pay Rs2,000 as monthly charges.
The government resolution also has provisions to slap fines on people not segregating garbage. The quantum for the fine in case of the first offence is Rs300. However, each subsequent offence will lead to a penalty of Rs500.
