PCMC recovers Rs 9.5 crore tax dues in one day

Pimpri: Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has recovered dues of Rs 9.5 crore on a single day through cases before the National Lok Adalat held here.

Of the total Rs 9.5 crore, Rs 9.42 crore are property tax dues and remaining Rs 11 lakh water cess dues.

The National Lok Adalat was held at Pimpri Chinchwad Engineering College at Akurdi Pradhikaran.

Eight zones of the municipal corporation limits were created on the basis of the civic body’s tax collection offices. Altogether 5,471 property tax disputes and 584 water cess disputes were placed before the Lok Adalat for arriving at settlement. Of these, 723 property tax disputes and 24 water cess issues were amicably settled.

The cases were heard in the presence of District Legal Aid Authority Secretary CP Bhagvat, Magistrate SB Desai and PCMC Assistant Municipal Commissioner Chandrakant Indalkar.

The civic body recovered dues of Rs 27 crore in settlements arrived at the Lok Adalat held in July this year.
