Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Mines and Coal Pralhad Joshi has said that in the wake of Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant declining to be part of any dialogue on the Mahadayi water-sharing issue, he would take up the matter with the Union Water Resources Minister.

Speaking to presspersons in Hubballi on Monday, he said that when he had earlier raised the Mahadayi issue and the need for dialogue based on the verdict of the Mahadayi Water Disputes Tribunal with Mr. Sawant, the latter had promised to consider the option.

“However, after going back to his State, he has now issued a statement declining the invitation for dialogue. There might be local political reasons for it. I will raise the issue with the Union Minister and seek efforts to arrive at a solution through dialogue,” Mr. Joshi said.
