Public Accounts Committee chairman S. Durai Murugan on Tuesday said the district administration and Vellore City Municipal Corporation should ensure that the remaining part of road laying works are completed. He also asked the officials to take remedial action to address traffic snarls near Green Circle and on Arcot Road.
He was speaking to the presspersons after a review meeting at the Collectorate here and inspection of development works in the district by his team comprising MLAs R. Rajendran, P. T.R. Palanivel Thiagarajan, V.P.B. Paramasivam, R. Nataraj, Dusi K. Mohan, P.V. Bharathi, T.R.B. Raaja, K. P. P. Baskar and T. Udhayasuriyan.
The team visited the site at Katpadi where a water tank is coming up under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme and they also reviewed underground drainage work undertaken by the Corporation in Sathuvachari area.
At the review meeting the members of the committee sought details on the completed projects and the level of the completion.
The team also toured different parts of the district to analyse the course of the development of infrastructure facilities. It visited Vettuvanam lake, Minnur lake to review the ongoing Kudimaramathu works and also inspected the road over bridge near Ambur.
He said a project report had been prepared to address the rainwater stagnation under the bridge at Ambur Road. This required administrative and financial sanctions from the government. The reports on these review meetings would be submitted to the State Assembly for the next course of action.
Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Secretary, K. Srinivasan, District Collector A. Shanmuga Sundram, District Revenue Officer, J. Partheeban, Sub-Collectors K. Meghraj and K. Elambahvath, Superintendent of Police, Praveshkumar, and Vellore Corporation Commissioner S. Sivasubramanian and Assistant Executive Engineer V. Srinivasan were present during the site visits at Vellore.
