Minister for Forests Dindigul C. Srinivasan on Monday announced that water would be supplied daily to 24 wards in Dindigul town and on alternate days to the rest.

He chaired a water supply review meeting at the Corporation office.

Mr. Srinivasan also conducted a meeting on Saturday, where he directed officials to do a quick study on the problems in all 48 wards of the town and find solutions.

Listening to study details and suggestions from officials, he said ₹25 lakh had been sanctioned from MLA Local Area Development Fund for laying extra pipelines to connect additional wards to the Cauvery Combined Drinking Water Scheme.

“The government has been taking up ‘kudimaramathu’ works to upgrade water bodies and improve the prospects of water storage. People should cooperate and construct rainwater harvesting structures to improve groundwater table. As Dindigul district has no perennial source of water, we have been ensuring supply from borewells and water tanks. People should use water judiciously,” said the Minister.
