Errant KIMS staff issued notices

Hubballi: In order to streamline work culture in Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) and bring about discipline among lower-rung staff, the hospital’s superintendent Dr C Arunkumar has issued a show cause notice to 67 employees.
KIMS has been a subject of debates very often for one or the other reason. Be it rude behaviour of hospital staff, denial of treatment or over getting work done by group C and D workers and by doctors too.
To address these issues, KIMS authorities are conducting surprise rounds in the hospital. In the last one month, Dr Arunkumar has made several such surprise visits including during night hours and he served notices to the staff for not performing their job.
The superintendent found that some staff nurses were skipping work after registering their attendance and most of the notices are related to this issue. Some were slapped notices for misbehaving with patients and their relatives and a few were found slacking at work.

Dr Arunkumar told TOI, “We will wait for the replies for he notices. If they fail to give a satisfactory answer, the administration will take strict action against them.” He added that the hospital was planning to introduce superior technological interventions to deter employees who skip work after registering attendance.
Dr arunkumar’s move has been appreciated by many. “No one has issued notices in such a large number in the history of KIMS. His efforts will create some fear among wrongdoers in the hospital and it should continue,” said a junior doctor.
