SILIGURI: Police arrested six persons after they allegedly attacked cops, who were trying to rescue a woman from a mob.
The woman was being assaulted on the suspicion of being a child-lifter at Matigara in Siliguri on Saturday. Police registered a suo motu case against the six. The accused were sent to five days' judicial custody and will be produced before the court on September 19. However, the locals said that they were arrested without any reason.
The accused were identified Hari Nayak (35), Santosh Barma (22), Chandra Kishor Ray (24), Devraj Das (25), Deva Biswa's (18) and Sagar Biswas (39). They are all residents of Kalamjote in Matigara.
