A pensioner was accused of 22 sexual offences including raping and assaulting children at court today.

Alan Jones, 76, appeared at North East Wales Magistrates, sitting at Mold, to face the allegations.

The charges included numerous counts of assaulting and raping children under 13, raping a teenager, inciting girls under 13 to engage in a sexual act, attempting to rape a girl under 13 and raping a teenager, which were alleged to have happened in Flintshire.

They also include possessing indecent images of children and two videos of sex involving animals at Jones' home.

The offences were alleged to have happened between July 2006 and March 2019.

During a short hearing, Jones, , of Rugby Road, Ellesmere Port, entered no pleas and magistrates sent the case to be heard at Mold Crown Court on October 7 2019.

He was released on conditional bail.
