Ludhiana: A speeding truck ran over a woman when she was crossing a road near Samrala Chowk on Monday morning.
Gurdeep Kaur, 47, a resident of Mohalla Tajgunj on Tibba Road, was going to Samrala Chowk to board a bus to Patiala, where her daughter lives.
Assistant sub-inspector Sukhwinder Singh said, “Gurdeep was walking towards the buses when a truck hit her. The truck driver tried to escape, but commuters nabbed him. They thrashed him before handing him over to police.”
The truck driver has been booked under sections 279 (rash driving) and 304 -A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC.
