Many delivery partners of online food delivery service Zomato logged out and gathered in HSR Layout to protest against reduction in ‘pay per delivery,’ increase in the number of orders for incentive and other “unreasonable” rules on Monday.
According to the delivery partners, recently, Zomato had cut the minimum ‘pay per delivery’ from ₹40 to ₹30. Earlier, delivery partners used to get ₹300 for 14 delivery per day and ₹600 for 20, and ₹800 for 24 deliveries per day. However, now, delivery partners get ₹ 175, ₹250, ₹330 for 11, 18 and 22 deliveries respectively, a delivery partner said.
“We are always on the go, in hurry to deliver on time. This has had a negative impact on our health as well. Instead of providing more incentives, they are reducing it. This is exploitation,” a delivery partner told The Hindu.
They also say that they pay for petrol, phone bills and other expenses and get nothing in return.
“We are planning to hold a massive protest soon,” said a delivery partner.
Zomato representatives were unavailable for comment.
