Suraj Hegde, former secretary of the All-India Congress Committee, on Monday will submit his report on whether the president of the Dakshina Kannada Pradesh Congress Committee should be changed or not.
Mr. Hegde has been appointed as the observer by the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee to elicit opinion of the party workers on whether there is a need to change the leadership in Dakshina Kannada. Similarly, the KPCC has appointed observers to study the leadership issue in Mysuru and nine other district units.
Talking to reporters here on Sunday, Mr. Hegde said he has been meeting party workers since Saturday.
K. Harish Kumar, MLC, has been the president of the Dakshina Kannada Pradesh Congress Committee since June, 2017. He replaced B. Ramanath Rai, former Bantwal MLA.
“He (Mr. Kumar) will complete his three year term,” he said.
The proposed change in the leadership comes when elections are slated for the Mangaluru City Corporation Council in the next few days, Mr. Hegde said.
Apart from expressing their views, party workers have also suggested on measures to be taken for strengthening the party in the district. “My report will be comprehensive. It will reflect feelings of party workers,” he said.
