Belagavi-based artist Ajit Aurwadkar created a Rangoli portrait of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya on the latter’s birth anniversary on Sunday.

The professional photographer and artist spent nearly seven hours in his studio to create the Rangoli.

The two feet by two-and-a-half feet portrait will be on display in the studio in Wadagaon for a week from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

“I used a powder base and a combination of colours to create the portrait,” he told The Hindu. He has been creating Rangolis of famous personalities for 12 years now. He works according to a calendar and paints the portraits on the birth anniversaries of them. The 50-year-old artist passed out of Uma School of Art in Belagavi in 1985 and has been creating art works on various media.
